What Is the DTV?

As remote work continues to grow globally, Thailand has launched a visa option tailored to digital nomads and remote workers: the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). Officially introduced in 2024, this digital nomad visa for Thailand is designed to attract long-stay visitors who work online, want to explore Thai culture, and contribute to the local economy through long-term tourism.

Key Features

• Initial stay: 180 days (6 months)
• Extension: Can be extended for another 180 days (total of up to 1 year)
• Validity: 5 years
• Multiple entries: Allowed
• Fee: THB 10,000 (approx. USD 280)
• Work allowed?: Remote work for foreign companies/clients is permitted

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for the DTV, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 20 years old
• Show proof of remote employment or freelance work for foreign entities
• Have at least 500,000 THB (approx. USD 13,700) in savings
• Provide documentation such as:
  • Proof of employment or client contracts
  • Bank statements
  • Health insurance covering their stay

The DTV is open not only to digital nomads, but also to long-stay tourists, language learners, Muay Thai trainees, and people participating in wellness or cultural programs.
